Anne Frank

Anne Frank

Born a Jew in Germany
Forced to flee to Holland young.
With her family to seek in Holland,
A place of safety, rest, and normality.

Yet again disturbed when holland invaded,
is filled with the horror they escaped from before.
Germany bringing their Nazi's to Holland,
Anne Frank and her family prejudiced against once again.

Out of her school, she is forced with the others,
"Jews learn with Jews," said the Nazi invaders.
No buses, nor cars, nor bicycles neither.
The Jews can walk in snow, heat, and foul weather.

Fastened to jews is a large yellow star:
the Star of David to set them apart,
not for honor or blessing, but spits, curses, and beatings.

Forced into hiding Anne Frank and her family,
share four rooms with another jew family.
Germany harvested what they could from their lives,
then when naught else was left they came for their bodies.

But looking ahead the wise father had chosen.
To set up a place for his family to hide.
And when an old friend came with this petition,
"they've come for us too may we stay with you?"

He welcomed them into the four-room home,
knowing the difficulty it'd be for them all.
But knowing that grace had been granted to them,
when it was asked the same grace was given.
