Hidden Angel
Hidden Angel
The mother died an alcoholic
The people loved her not.
But children just can't be ignored,
No matter the sins of there parents.
The town came round to bury her,
and deal with the children too.
The oldest was an older boy,
strong and fit for farming.
The second was a young bright girl,
she had potential in her.
But the youngest, oh the youngest girl,
she was paralyzed from the waist down.
The eldest went to a farming man,
he'd do good work as a farmhand.
The second went to a wealthy house,
in a few years she'd be a maid.
But the youngest, oh the youngest;
no one wanted her.
They changed her sheets and gave her clothes,
and figured she'd go to a poorhouse.
But the wheelwright didn't leave her there,
when the fearful voice cried out.
He picked her up and carried her home,
and thus brought an angel to his dwelling.
She softened the heart of the wheelwright's wife
and gave her a small one to love.
And the wheelwright gained from an act of conscience,
the desires of his heart.

I love the last verse so much! "The desires of his heart" - so true, the things we receive when we sacrifice.
