Splinters
There were splinters in the hands of heavens queen
As she wept at the cross of her only son
Touching it's roughness with reverence and grief
And kneeling on the rocky ground
Her knees formed bruises
As her sons heart was pierced
And her soul so united in sorrow and love
Joined in his suffering so intimately
That her own soul was pierced
As her sons precious blood ran with water on the cross
And while my heart isn't unified
As perfect as my queens
And I sometimes lose my way as I follow the cross
In this moment I'm at Calvary
There's splinters in my hands
And the rocks are digging deep
As I kneel before the cross
Jesus I have these little sufferings
And I offer them to you
Teach me to join you in your passion
And suffer for love
Let my pain have some meaning
May it bring another victory
May souls be in heaven
From the struggles I endure
Cause though I don't want the pain
And I seek to make it end
I still trust you Jesus
And I trust in your love
And if souls can be saved
By the suffering I endure
Then I offer up my splintered hands
And the bruises on my knees
As an offering of love
And a prayer for mercy
As a petition for the souls most lost
I'll stay before your precious cross
And kneel beside your mother
I'll join you in your passion
Until you take me to your glory
