Wounded One
Wounded One
How can you love me
Love me still
I see you as if you stepped off the cross
In the moment of your death
Covered with wounds
And with bloodied feet
You walk on these stones
to comfort me
And your wounded hands
Wipe away my tears
And the salt water must sting the cuts in your hands
But you pick me up
and you spin me around
and you dance with me till I laugh again
And you hold my hand with your wounded one
and you place my hand
on the hole in your side
And I see what you did
and I see how you suffered
And your eyes never left me
since the moment you saved me
How do you have so much love and compassion
how do you see me still
How do you have so much love and compassion
for all my little falls
How do you look through a haze of pain
and see only my own
How do you kneel on those wounded knees
to meet my downcast eyes
How do you have so much love and compassion
When you are the wounded one
