The Process

Some people have this phantasie

That converting someone is easy

Or that the process doesn’t take that long

But in our day and age

And where I live in america

To bring someone to Christ

Is not as easy as one two three

Sometimes the first step goes all right,

But before you’ve finished the second

You find the one you’re speaking to

Has left and changed his mind

And when you’re speaking to children

As I do with my whole heart

You find once you have reached the end

They’ve forgotten the beginning

So many times you find yourself

Repeating for the fiftieth time

The message which they now dislike

And you just don’t know what to do

Until you realise the fact

What they really need is someone

Who will hold on to them in their pain

And comfort the wandering soul

The one who many times you told

The story of Jesus’ life

Will learn the truth after they’ve found

The hand that reaches and holds them

For before when they tried to find the truth

On ground disturbed by earthquakes

They couldn't even raise their eyes

Before they went down again

So hold onto their hand in the darkest times

And don’t let go no matter what

And slowly they will find the one

Who really helped them through the storm

And then you can teach and tell the story

To a heart that really wants to listen

And a soul that will find the way.
