Pride and Prejudice, Letters to Grandmama

Hello Everyone!
After re-reading the classic Pride and Prejudice, I decided to write a short "Letter" on each section addressed to a fictional "Grandmama" from Elizabeth's point of view.

Here is the first:

Dear Grandmama,
It was so good to visit you last month!  I wish I could always confide in you. My mother after hearing that Mr. Bingley, (a rich, and unmarried young man) was coming to town to dwell in his large home, decided to persuade papa d to invite him over.  She was sure that he would have to be a good match with one of us. (Oh misery and embarrassment)  However, Papa thought no such thing, and thought it all nonsense, but he did reply that Mr. Bingley was going to the nearest ball with a small company.  Mama was overjoyed to hear this, and when the time came around for the ball, she and all of us went, Papa though, stayed home, as he had wished. Mr. Bingley brought a few of his friends to the ball, one of them, notably very rich, a Mr. Darcy.  But the novelty of his said great fortune soon wore off (for me and most others), as he was very ungracious, and did not dance with any of the ladies, and only spoke to those of his company. (Proud man) I even heard him say that I was "Not pretty enough to tempt me", I didn’t really care but still, how unthoughtful, he knew I was behind him.  Well, at least he did say that Jane was indeed pretty. Mr. Bingley though, was quite entranced with her (As it seemed to me), and danced with her twice.  Mama gloried over this, but when she tried to tell Papa (who had no desire to hear these things of who danced with who and so on) he retreated to his study.  My family is quite the show I must say, though I do think Mr. Bingley and Jane a good match.
Till next time!

Elizabeth
