Pride and Prejudice-Letters to Grandmama

Dear Grandmama,
I hope you have not disclosed the contents of our last letter.  Mr. Darcy and his cousin left yesterday, but I cannot stop reading Mr. Darcy's letter.   Sometimes when I read it I am angry at him, sometimes at myself, and sometimes being compassionate to him, and other times pitying myself or my sister.  When I told Lady Catherine that I was going home again, would you believe she refused! She said that my parents could spare me and she had expected me to be there at least two months; and it had only been six weeks so I could not leave.  However I was firm with telling her that I was going to keep to my original plan of going home, as my parents needed me. When she finally accepted that it would be so, she started barraging me with questions of my journey. Inquiring whether I had a manservant or a maid coming with me.  Saying she would send one of hers, she would have driven me to insanity but for the fact that I could leave! I left in the morning by post-chaise. I hope to see you soon!

-Elizabeth
