The Adams vs. Jefferson

John Adams and Jefferson used to be friends
They shared and they bickered but ended up well
They loved each others children
And they never fought for long
And their friendship didn't cease
When Adams won the Presidency
But when Jefferson was Vice, and Adams President
Jefferson and Adams didn't buddy on their views
And slowly by degrees they began to choose
That friends they couldn't be when they didn't share their views
So Jefferson scorned Adams, and started to muse
How he could mess him up on the daily news
He partnered with Calender, and slandered Adams,
So Adams severed their long relationship

Now Adams was retired, and living with his wife
Out in the country, in the good farmers life
And Jefferson was president, for they had fought again
And Adams came off bottoms and didn't really care
To resume the position of Vice president
(For all you really got were the Vices of the slanderers"

Now Abigail sent a letter, to Mr. President,
Consoling him on the loss of his darling daughter
And Jefferson ignored, what he should have seen
(The warning's Abi posted about him writing back)
He sent a letter saying how he'd been friends with Adams
For so long that he forgave the personal hurt he'd received

Abigail was furious, and in her controlled rage
Sent him a letter that he never received the like of
It attacked his character, it attacked him politically
But it was from a person who he respected as a friend
He couldn't put it off, it wasn't propaganda,
And it took many attempt's to bring the once friends back together

When another finally did, the letters that bounced around
Were of Adams favorite kind, the never-ending debate
So they were "reconciled" in an arguing way
And Adams controlled his anger with some well put jokes
